Is cocos2d-x is almost dead?

Hello,
I am new to cocos2d-x someone told me that cocos2d-x is almost dead for android development, because android now no more supported eclipse.
Also i don’t not found any comprehensive tutorial about this matter since Google discontinued with Eclipse Adt Bundle. Even on Cocos2d-x tutorials are not sufficient for new users for atleast configuring helloworld project for first time. they still provide not working link of Eclipse ADT. which redirect users to Android Studio.

Please letme know if cocos2d-x is going to dead? because its a serious matter for new learners. also why they do not update there tutorials and links according to new updates? What i do if i want to configure eclipse latest IDE with cocos2d-x (please don’t say to please download old version and use it, if i have to use old then why not cocos2d-x updating themself)

Thanks

At first to say that a cross platform game engine is dead because ONE platform (in your example android) changed something in their supported development chain is exaggerated.

The main reason why you only find tutorials about Eclipse ADT Bundle with cocos2d-x is a really simple one. Google just discontinued with Eclipse ADT Bundle some days/weeks ago (I don’t know the date, but the exact date is unimportand.) and the cocos2d-x guys have something better to do than to get crazy because android studio is now the official supported ide. FYI http://developer.android.com/tools/help/adt.html You are still able to install ADT Plugins to a Eclipse Version.

A thread about Gradle Support is there http://discuss.cocos2d-x.org/t/adding-gradle-support/17289/19 and there is a example of how you can add gradle support for cocos2d-x projects.

its not fun that admins is erased comments in such a great thred

There haven’t been any comments erased in this thread…You can look at the thread history yourself to double check.

I guess I’d ask what platform is actually more viable? I think cocos2d-x is pretty amazing, myself. I prefer to deliver on iOS and Windows, and I’m even able to build for Mac. I don’t use the editor, but then I’m old school.

Hmm, looking at the “latest” tutorials http://www.cocos2d-x.org/learn for cocos-2dx I now understand everything once again. Game of life tutorial was posted 3 years ago… and no new activity if you just google any tutorials. Conclusion from all this is very simple - this engine is not needed anymore to anyone.

Also, checking a huge number of bugs and problems posted here and on github - I see that almost 99% of them just ignored. I mean real problems, but not just newbie questions.

I wish you cocos developers(not sure even they will care and read this forum) rethink about whats you are doing, and how you are attracting new developers.
