[c++] Android NDK x86 porting event [Berlin/Germany] [Nov 9th, 2013]

Hello,

Thanks to minggo, cocos2d-x supports x86. There is also an x86 Hello World available.

Related to this feature, Intel will talk about NDK optimization and provide x86 porting support on November 9th in Berlin, Germany. There will be an additional talk about XDK and external speakers (to be announced). All Android developers who want to learn more about NDK and XDK are welcome at this free event!

A contest will follow, which will reward successful ports to x86 with devices (tablets and OUYAs). It will be possible to participate online, but the main focus is Germany and apps on Google Play Germany.

Feel free to ask questions in this thread or contact me via iwan@bemyapp.com (I help organizing the event)!

I did a little blog post about this just and adding the x86 compile option to your build the other day:

Very nice! Did you stress-test with/without optimization on your Galaxy Tab 3 GT-P5210? I’d be nice to see how much the virtualization might be costing in performance.

PS: Arrow mania is not available for Samsung SM-T210 (Galaxy Tab 3 7.0). How come?

I will have a go, would like to know myself.

I haven’t released the new version, it’ll be v1.27. I’ll message you when I do, hopefully later today.

Hey Ivan,

So the current live version of Arrow Mania (v1.26) on Google Play has x86 support in it now.

A few more devices were enabled by the x86 support (most x86 devices already worked via virtualization) but I don’t think the SM-T210 was one of them, I think it was already in the list, see the attached image, I presume/hope that the SM-T210 is one of the “7” models listed. Can you try again and confirm Google Play says it isn’t supported? Thanks.

Hey,

The SM-T210 is a 7-inch, yes. I don’t really know what processor it has though. I would assume it uses virtualization but perhaps it doesn’t. If you know of any “if you can install this app, it means you can run x86 code” test app let me know.

I still can’t install your app. This might be location-related(?) though? Me/My account is located in Germany? See attachment.

False alarm: it was an issue with my chromium browser :expressionless:

I am able to install using Firefox or the play store.

Hehe, I like how the game appears to promote non-violence towards animals

Oh ok, strange! Maybe some addon doing that, can’t imagine Chrome should have trouble with Google Play Store!

Yep, you can shoot down planes though, maybe I can say they’re remote control drones with nobody inside!
