[outdated] Cocos Creator Roadmap (2021 and beyond)

The future of Cocos Creator is looking pretty amazing!

There are also a few surprise platforms coming in 2021 that will truly delight and amaze. I can’t let the cat out of the bag just yet

Please guys don’t use PhysX, or make it optional because it really massive sdk, and in many cases it not necessary.
I agree with that about threaded physics, but you can run physics in single separated thread and it enough.
I think most important feature is save CocosCreateRuntime as tiny as possible!
Thank you!

Hey … very interesting. Can you let the cat out of the sack, or how to say it. Many of us are starvong for news related to new architecture of CC 3D. Thank you.

And Typescript documentation/API?

Yes starting in v3

I am very relying on this version. When will it out? (Not beta)?
Any estimation? (doesnt have to be exact)

Around the Chinese New Year. Mid-February.

I take it there will no longer be support for Javascript (as opoosed to just Typescript)?

Indeed Typescript starting with v3

I understand why but am disappointed. I liked continually working on my ES6 skills with Cocos. Excited for v.3 though!

JavaScript is supported and works same as TypeScript except that you can not directly create JavaScript file in asset panel.

@Grimmy The 3.0 documentation and API are now almost all written in TypeScript.

I have update a new version of the roadmap

Our physics module is designed to support multi backend, it will continue to support both bullet (wasm) and PhysX, and the choice is totally up to the developers.
