Thirty years ago on February 21st 1986, The Legend of Zelda was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System. It came in a gold cartridge and everyone knew to blow on the connectors if there were any problems. Today, February 21st 2016, Songbringer enters its private beta phase and everyone knows to email the developer if there are any problems. =)

Status of the Game

While the core of the game is now complete, there is much content still to be created. Over the coming months, you can look forward to lots of stuff getting added to the beta version through weekly-ish updates:

  • More bosses and enemies
  • More gadgets, items and skills
  • Lots of new music
  • Secrets and easter eggs
  • More dungeon art schemes
  • Second player able to play as Jib
  • The story (including cut scenes and dialogue)

Songbringer will likely be in beta for several months. At some point, the official release date for the game will be announced.

Looks great. Do you plan porting it for iOS/android? Because your website says it’s only for windows/mac/linux.

Started november 2014 so it’s been over a year now. Full time and yes, just me. Thanks for saying that!

Sir @natweiss do you use tiled for your map? or how do you generate your maps?.. need your advice hehe :blush:

No. It’s all procedurally generated in memory. There are never any tile maps or anything stored to disk regarding the world except for the six letter world seed.

I somehow missed “iOS” word. Anyway why Android not out of the box? Maybe because of problems with shaders :slight_smile: ?

Regarding Android, well, I’m just one man and already supporting 4 platforms! All of them require individual testing which takes a lot of time away from development. Android is one of the most time consuming of them all given all the various hardware.

Had the Kickstarter hit its second stretch goal then Android would have been confirmed. It’s still yet to be determined if Android will be supported. Maybe the game will do well and I will have the time. Will see.

The VGS / Coleco Chameleon is now a maybe. Things have changed a bit there so now we are talking it through seeing what’s possible.

What is your twitch channel and when are you streaming if you do… Do you have any idea of of what the price is gonna be for the game and do you have any estimated total income for the game?

Twitch stream is here. 5 or so days a week usually starting between 2pm and 4pm pacific time.

Price will be $16 regularly or $20 with the soundtrack.

The game is not released yet, so there is no estimated total income. I will probably do a post mortem after launch though and put it up on Gamasutra.
