i’m not a game maker, but i was wandering cocos2d-x now supports 3d, the name still remains “2d”, maybe we can change it to “cocos3d-x”. or just “cocos-x”
We have discussed this at length many times on these forums. Please search for discussion on this.
Actually I couldn’t find any topic that answers this question on the forums. Could you please point me to any one?
they’re just naming it cocos
I recall a few threads. I can find them.
For now: http://discuss.cocos2d-x.org/t/discuss-the-next-step-of-cocos2d-x/21182
Interesting. This is the first time I know cocos3dx.org
But we shouldn’t divide 2D and 3D separately. For cocos, we can create 2D, 3D, 2.5D or 3D scene mixed with 2D UI from one engine.
Let it be just cocos
or cocos-x
Totally. I found out about it a few weeks ago, as a search on cocos and 3D came up with that site: http://cocos3d.org/
I never heard of both of them before.
How many cocos versions are even out there? cocos2d(-x, -js, -xna, -swift, -python), cocos3d, cocos3d-x,…
I totally agree on that. I don’t know of any other engine, which does name it’s version after their features. E.g., UE2D, UE3D, Cryengine2D, Cryengine3D… would be like a Disturbance in the Force
It would just introduce even more FUD.
I just ordered cocos-x.org, so that nobody else does it before us. Just send me a PM if you decide renaming it to cocos-x and moving to cocos-x.org! For now it simply redirects to cocos2d-x.org.
I think CocosXD might be better, well ,XD you know
